Lytton Signature Comfort Plush & Firm Mattress Review – 10 Points

I had no intention of writing this Lytton Signature Comfort Plush & Firm mattress review. I only wanted a glimpse of what they have to offer. However, when I learned more about these 2 mattresses, I just couldn’t walk away.

I’ll get into the details in the following lines but I have to highlight one thing: compared to so many other brands out there who invent names and features for the materials they use, Lytton Sleep is among the most transparent I’ve seen.

You don’t have to trust their word that their mattresses are comfortable and worth the money because they provide you with all the details you could possibly need and more. Here are the details that convinced me:

1. Made to Order in the U.S.

I like knowing where the products I buy are produced. As a reviewer, I’m tired of general phrases that don’t provide any concrete information, like “our high-end facility” or “our R&D team”, etc., and of brands that surface overnight by putting their label on various factories’ products.

Lytton got under my skin by being open about their origins. Their mattresses are produced by Capitol Bedding, in Michigan. On their website, you can actually see images of the factory premises and production process.

Another important aspect to consider is that their mattresses are made to order. I’ve often seen memory foam products that fail to decompress after being stored compressed for too long or release that nasty chemical smell when unboxed.

With Lytton mattresses, you have nothing to worry about, as they’ll be delivered to you straight from the factory. The only possible downside is that production and delivery take up to two weeks. But, as I like to say, good things come to those who wait.

2. 100 Nights Trial & Infinity Warranty

Yes, Lytton lets you sleep on their mattress for up to 100 nights and return it if you don’t like it. While 100 nights is not the longest trial period out there, you really don’t need that much to figure out if you like the mattress or not.

Most manufacturers, including Lytton, recommend sleeping on their mattresses for at least 30 nights before making a decision, to give your body a chance to adjust. You have another 2 months after that to return the mattress if you’re not happy with it.

And while the trial period should help you assess quality and durability as well, you have a 20-year infinity warranty covering manufacturing defects and damage due to natural wear and tear. That’s amazing, considering that the average lifespan of a mattress is only 8 years.

3. Certified Quality Materials

Unlike most of the mattresses in their price range, Lytton mattresses are not made with standard memory foam but with safe, CertiPur-US and Serene™ foams. The latter variety is an innovative type of memory foam made of billions of air microcapsules.

With it, you get all the comfort, cradling, and motion isolation that you’d expect from a traditional memory foam mattress. But, unlike memory foam mattresses that trap body heat and favor sweating, Serene™ foam offers improved breathability and body temperature regulation, so cooler sleep. Lytton’s is manufactured by Carpenter, in Virginia.

The coils system is special too! We’re talking about patented Quantum Edge Coils made from 90% recycled tempered steel from Leggett and Platt, Missouri. Then, we have the organic cotton fabric from Maxime Knitting, North Carolina, and the impeccable hand-tufting and hand-crafting work of Capitol Bedding, Michigan.

4. Sturdy Construction

There’s nothing fancy or complicated about Lytton’s mattress design: just pure and simple craftsmanship!

Lytton Sleep Mattress Layers

  1. Luxurious hand-tufted cover made from 81% organic cotton (the top side) and 19% polyester (the base) quilted on CertiPUR-US gel foam with an open cell structure.
  2. Serene™ foam with Supportive Air Technology™ and billions of air microcapsules dissipating body heat, enhancing support, and relieving pressure.
  3. Leggett and Platt Quantum Edge Coils System for optimum edge-to-edge, targeted support, and excellent motion isolation.
  4. 1” Base foam layer with 1″ Foam 1.8 density 36ILD PCC bottom panel-Grey and FR cloth with rayon and carbon graft for added support and durability.
  5. Up to 8 horizontal handles sewn in the border, for easy carrying, positioning, and rotation.

5. Lytton Signature Comfort Plush vs. Firm

With their two mattresses, Lytton caters to the needs of most sleepers.

Lytton Signature Confort Plush has a firmness of 3-5/10 (plush soft) and works great for side sleepers and those who prefer cloud-like, embracing, bouncier mattresses.

Lytton Signature Comfort Firm is rated 6-8/10 (luxury firm) and caters to the needs of back and stomach sleepers who don’t like sinking and prefer sturdier support.

6. Motion Transfer

One of the things I love the most about hybrid mattresses is that they tend to isolate motion pretty well. The steel coils respond to body weight and pressure individually, absorbing motion and isolating it.

This means that you don’t have to worry about disturbing your partner or being disturbed in the middle of the night by tossing and turning or bathroom breaks. It also makes Lytton mattresses great for couples, assuming the partners share the same preferences when it comes to firmness.

7. Zoned Support

Generally, hybrids provide better support than all-foam mattresses due to the pocketed coils that adjust to the contours of the body, supporting it and relieving pressure. Lytton takes support to the next level by adding extra coils in the hips and shoulders area. This helps relieve pressure points and improves spinal alignment, which should mean a lot for any sleeper, especially those suffering from back, hip, or shoulder pain.

8. Coolness

I didn’t think I’d ever refer to a mattress as “cool”, but I can’t think of a better word to describe Lytton Sleep’s mattresses. They look cool, they have a cool design, and, what’s more important, they sleep cool. The fact that you can choose between two different firmness options is pretty cool too. Apologies for the repetition, but I’m pretty impressed!

9. Reviews

Lytton is a newish, growing brand. You won’t find that many 3rd party reviews, but the ones available are overwhelmingly positive. Lytton Signature Comfort Plush reviews culminate with SleepFoundation’s endorsements as Best Soft Mattress for Pressure Relief and Best Gel Mattress for Side Sleepers. Lytton Signature Comfort Firm gathered its share of praises too.

Customer reviews are positive as well. All in all, no matter which of the two models you choose, you should be happy with your purchase.

10. Value for the Money

If there’s anything I would change about Lytton mattresses, it’s the price. The queen sells for $1899, which can be a bit pricey, especially for those who won’t be sleeping on the mattress themselves. However, the premium materials, sturdy construction, thoughtful design, and extensive warranty fully justify it. Moreover, Lytton often runs sales offering discounts of up to $300 and dropping the queen price to $1599.

Think of it this way: you pay for the mattress only once but will sleep on it for years to come! You surely spend much more on clothes, decorations, and other products, so don’t skimp on sleep quality! If you keep your mattress for 10 years (and the 20-year warranty suggests you will) we’re talking about 3650+ nights and less than $2.5 cost per night to enjoy restful, undisturbed sleep and, thus, protect your health and well-being. The cost drops to half for those who share their bed :)! The investment is well worth it, don’t you agree?
