5. Support and Motion Isolation
Besides cooling properties, the Airgocell foam layer mentioned earlier comes with point-elasticity. This means it is elastic enough to relieve pressure and adjusts to the body’s contours, preventing empty spaces between the mattress and the body. Thanks to it, the mattress adapts to the sleeper’s body perfectly, ensuring optimum spinal alignment, zoned support, and pressure relief in sensitive areas like the hips, back, and shoulders.
There’s more! Underneath the Airgocell foam layer, there’s a HALO® 3-Zone memory foam layer. It not only supports the body and relieves pressure in all the key areas, but it also isolates motion. No more waking up in the middle of the night from the partner’s tossing and turning, for sure!
Next comes an HRX (HighHigh Resiliency Extra) foam layer. It uses 5 adaptive cut-outs and more than 100 supportive points to distribute body weight evenly and reduce pressure. This is the part where I feel they could do better. At this point, U.S. buyers can pair the mattress either with an Emma adjustable base (basic and pro versions available) or a rustic wooden bed. Canadians have only one option, an elegant Emma upholstered bed frame. Mattress protectors are an option for buyers in both countries. It’s a shame that the Emma Original foam pillow is only available in Canada! They would have been a nice addition to U.S. bedrooms too.
They’re not available in Emma’s stores, but it’s important to keep in mind that the Original is compatible with Murphy beds and trundle beds too. This makes the mattress a great option for families with kids, college students, and anyone looking to save space without compromising sleep comfort and quality.
9. Mattress Reviews Summary
We always recommend reading buyer and 3rd party reviews before buying. Checking the ones available for Emma ourselves, we were quite impressed. From Amazon to reviews syndication platforms and social media, the general consensus is that Emma is a great brand, with great products. You will find occasional reports of less than optimal experiences. There’s also some feedback from buyers who discovered too late that they needed a different firmness or thickness.
