Having analyzed over 27 million websites on different domains, McAffee uncovered both the world’s most dangerous, and the safest domains. Interestingly, “the world’s most heavily trafficked web domain, .COM” has been also named “the riskiest top-level domain”. The safest top-level domains, on the other hand, are .TRAVEL and .EDU “with less than .05 percent of sites infected”.

In this post we’d like to also bring you 10 country-specific domains ranked by McAffee in two groups: the top 5 most dangerous, and the 5 safest. Here they are (the part after the “dash” stands for the overall risk assessed for 2010):

Vietnam (.VN) – 29.4%
Cameroon (.CM) – 22.2%
Armenia (.AM) – 12.1%
Cocos (.CC) – 10.5%
Russia (.RU) – 10.1%

(ranked in least risky order)

Japan (.JP) – .1%
Catalan (.CAT) – .1%
Guernsey (.GG) – .1%
